HALLOWED GROUNDS:
RACE, MEMORY, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA

Picture
The BFSA Ambassadors have partnered with Dr. Hilary Green to give the Hallowed Grounds Tour. This tour is a by product of Dr. Green's research on the history of slavery at the University of Alabama.

The tour is open to current students, alumni, faculty, staff, community members and potential students. The tour will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

More information on the history of slavery on UA's campus can be found on Dr. Green's webpage.

Please use the form below to sign up for a tour. All tours begin at Gorgas House. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early so the tour can start on time.

Hallowed Grounds Tour RSVP Form

We are committed to doing our part to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our Faculty, Staff and Students while we continue undertaking measures to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Guided Hallowed Grounds Tours will only be provided on the dates and times listed on the RSVP. Tours will be rescheduled in the cases of inclement weather conditions, Campus Closings, or due to our compliance with UA COVID-19 Protocols.

Please complete the Hallowed Grounds Tour RSVP Form at least 10 days in advance of your requested date and time; see available schedules listed below. Once your tour has been scheduled in our system, you will receive a confirmation email that will detail and confirm your tour times, meeting area, and the name of  your assigned Tour Guide.  Tour capacity will be limited to 25 people max.

In the meantime, if you would like to take a self-guided Hallowed Grounds Tour, please feel free to visit Dr. Hilary Green's website to access her research, documents, and other relative projects.
