2024 New Faculty and Staff Welcome Reception
The University of Alabama Black Faculty and Staff Association, welcomes you to The University of Alabama!
The University of Alabama's Black Faculty & Staff Association (BFSA) was established in the early 1970s with a mission to serve as an advocate for educational equity, with emphasis on African-American students and the professional needs of its members. BFSA blossomed during 1974 when black students, led by Cleo Thomas and Sylvester Jones, marched to protest perceived lingering racist policies and practices by the Board of Trustees and the Administration.
BFSA continues to have a strong presence at The University of Alabama, and its members include Faculty, Staff, and Administrators from across the campus. The Association meets each month during the regular school calendar year. BFSA remains committed to working with the U.A. System and University leaders to ensure that UA is pursuing equity, advocacy, and excellence for the entire campus community. BFSA has a robust platform that includes professional development, student-centered projects, and standing programming to enrich and empower its members, students, and campus community.
At the beginning of each academic year, BFSA hosts a New Faculty and Staff reception to provide an opportunity for newly hired faculty and staff to greet, network, and have the opportunity to introduce themselves to their new UA community members and campus partners.
Coming Soon!!! Please visit our site in the upcoming weeks for more information on this event.
We also invite Faculty, Staff, and Administrators who attained tenure, promotion, or an appointment during this time to attend so that we may highlight your elevation during this event.
We will have a short program, networking opportunity, and light refreshments to highlight your new career path.
Again, welcome to Campus - Roll Tide!
