Fundraiser for Temporary Emergency Services
The University of Alabama Black faculty and Staff Association, BFSA, has been on The University of Alabama campus since the 1970s. As we continue to serve the needs of our Faculty, Staff, and Students, we are often involved in volunteer projects, service projects, and opportunities to fundraise for a community partner in need. Through those projects, our goal is to empower our students by teaching them the meaning of being responsible citizens, building meaningful relationships with the communities they live in, and expanding their capacity to serve others impactfully.
The 2021-22 BFSA Student Cohort selected Temporary Emergency Services as their final academic year service project. Temporary Emergency Services Inc (TES) has partnered with BFSA to pilot a donation drop-off system during residence halls move-outs in the Spring of 2022. This system would ensure that gently used clothing and household items would not just be merely thrown away but also donated and collected efficiently. TES is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families in crisis situations within our community. These donations to Temporary Emergency Services would then fund TES's greater work serving our community, including students and staff at The University of Alabama.
On April 23rd, 2022, we will jointly host the UA BFSA Field Day fundraising event. Our student groups have agreed to pay-to-play [$5.00 per person] intramural sports at this event to raise money through team registrations, community donation boxes, and your generous sponsorship(s). We will have several live stream coverages on our platform to promote community donations. [$5.00 per person]
